About Learn and Teach

Learn and Teach Magazine emerged as an autonomous publication emerging from Learn and Teach Literacy Organisation (the mother body) in 1981. Thus, it was in this context of state repression and resistance within society that it reported on the struggles of society specifically targeting its newly literate audience, typically those with 5 or 6 years formal education. As a result of fulfilling its’ mandate, many editions of Learn and Teach Magazine were banned, because the law made it an offence, illegal in terms of the Publications Act of the time.
